I have always lusted after
a particular supercar, but with it commanding prices of about £50,000 I could
not see myself being able to afford one, and if I could, I probably wouldn’t be
able to drive it anywhere! So when I have found that a Kit-car manufacturer was
making a body replica, I wanted to know more, but being unhappy with the choice
of donor, I set out to find a suitable chassis, but again, there was no choice,
so I decided to start with a Locost based chassis, and evolve from there.
I was lucky enough to find
a chassis for sale, complete except for the suspension mounting brackets, and
at a very reasonable price, the seller even ‘throwing in’ a copy of Ron
Champions book to boot!
The chassis will now be
cut into 4 pieces in order to lengthen and widen the tub to suite my proposed
body, the front suspension will be mounted further back on the body than a
‘real’ Locost, and the rear will be Sierra based IRS.
